The Islander Estate Vineyards

2018 Boundary Track Shiraz

2018 Boundary Track Shiraz

The fruit for Boundary Track Shiraz is sourced from our bush vines at the edge of our vineyard.  The boundary track separates the vines from the surrounding remnant native bush of the Parndana Conservation Park. This small parcel of fruit has been hand-crafted into a limited-release wine which shows the potential of Kangaroo Island Shiraz

On the nose, eucalypt, native pepper, coffee & spice support cool-climate Shiraz fruit characteristics like mulberry, cherry & plum.  Wild barrel fermentation & ageing in new French oak demi-muids adds secondary & tertiary character to deliver a wine with firm tannins balanced by an elegant supple finish.

Produced in very limited amounts, you could save this save it for a special occasion if you can resist.

Wine Profile
"Table sorted (berry by berry) by hand. Wild fermented in 1000l ceramic eggs; on skins 8 weeks; matured in French oak demi muid (25% new) for 24 months. Still crimson-hued; beautifully made, with silky tannins and fruit-freshness, the oak playing a nigh-on unseen hand. One glass insists on two." 96 points.
